Accessibility statement for Citizen Space

This accessibility statement applies to slough.citizenspace.com.

This website is made up of:

  • Software that is designed and controlled by Delib, for example the overall structure and the look and feel of the pages.
  • Content that has been added by Slough Borough Council, for example most of the information, including words, pictures and documents.

Delib does not control the content added to this site but does develop and test the software to support it. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • Change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings
  • Zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen.
  • Navigate most of the website using just a keyboard.
  • Navigate most of the website using speech recognition software.
  • Listening to the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver).

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

How accessible this website is

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:

  • The PDF a respondent gets after completing an activity is not fully accessible to screen reader software.
  • It is not visually fully clear when the search button is active.

In the non-accessible content section of this statement, you will find a full list of any issues we know about.

Feedback and contact information

We are always looking to improve the accessibility of this website. If you find any problems not listed on this page or think we’re not meeting accessibility requirements, please contact us using the following steps:

  1. Head to the overview page of the survey you wanted to respond to
  2. Locate the contact details for the organiser. These are towards the top right of the page and are usually an email address or a phone number.
  3. Contact us using the email address or phone number listed there.

If you need a survey in a different format like large print or easy read, please contact the organiser of that survey using the same steps above.

Enforcement procedure

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the ‘accessibility regulations’). If you’re not happy with how we respond to your complaint, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).

Technical information about this website’s accessibility

Delib and Slough Borough Council are committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance status

Delib test the software against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines V2.2 AA standard.

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

The PDF that is supplied to a respondent on completing an activity does not follow techniques laid out in WCAG (there are no heading tags and no document title). People who use a screen reader will not be able to fully access the information. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.3.1 (info and relationships).

The focus indicator on the search button in the main search has insufficient contrast. It is not visually fully clear when the search button is active. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.4.11 (non-text contrast). Delib aim to resolve this issue by the end of 2024.

Some users of assistive technology may not be able to submit their searches. This fails WCAG 2.0 success criterion 3.2.2 (On Input).

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

The website is tested annually for compliance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines V2.2 level AA.

Delib work on accessibility throughout the year and regular updates are released for the product. Any changes made to the software as a part of that process are tested internally in advance of release for compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines V2.2 level AA.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was prepared in October 2024. It was last reviewed in October 2024.

Slough Borough Council tested the site using the automated tools WAVE and Silktide during September and October 2024.

This website was also tested in March 2024 against the WCAG 2.2 AA standard. The test was carried out by Tetralogical. The next audit will take place in Spring 2025.
