From April 2025 to June 2025, we invited Slough residents to complete our Assistive Technology (AT) survey. The survey aimed to gather your views on what you know about Assistive Technology in Slough and what support or information you would find most helpful.
You said
Residents who responded told us they would like clearer, more detailed information about the different types of Assistive Technology available locally. Many residents also said they would welcome more training and guidance on how these technologies can help people stay safe and independent at home.

Overview
Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey. Your answers will help us to understand whether carers and their loved ones are already aware of the benefits of Assistive Technology, how it is currently used, and whether there are any gaps in the kinds of assistive technology we currently offer. This will help us find solutions to meet the issues you may be facing in your caring role.
What is assistive technology? "Assistive technology" refers to products or equipment that help people with disabilities, limited mobility, or other impairments to carry out tasks that might otherwise be too difficult. This includes devices such as remote monitoring gadgets, video consultations with doctors, and smart tools that help people manage their health at home. The goal is to improve the quality of care and enable people to live more independently
Most commonly used items include:· Call alarms or pendants that can summon help·, falls detectors that alert loved ones or support services that help is needed, health monitoring devices for things like blood pressure or glucose levels, Smart devices like Alexa or doorbells with cameras.
