Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy 2026-2031

Share your views on a new strategy which aims to put people first and prevent homelessness through earlier intervention.

The draft Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy 2026-2031 sets out the council’s priorities to improve homelessness and rough sleeping outcomes in Slough.

One priority is universal prevention, which aims to make homelessness rare.

Another is targeted prevention, giving tailored support to people who are more likely to face homelessness, including people leaving institutions, domestic abuse survivors, care leavers, young people, migrants and people leaving hospital or prison.

When someone is at risk of homelessness, it is important they can get help quickly and are directed to the right support. The strategy aims to improve how people are assessed, how risks are identified, and how housing services respond to help.

Among the proposals is a temporary accommodation (TA) reduction plan, which would strengthen TA inspections and suitability reviews, reduce the time spent in TA, and help people move into settled housing more quickly.

Why take part?

The online survey is anonymous and should take between 10 and 15 minutes. We do not collect any personal information, and your feedback will remain confidential.

Questions include a summary of proposed changes, followed by a question about whether you agree or disagree with the proposal.

At the end of the survey, you can choose to answer a few additional questions about your demographic information. This section is also anonymous and will only be used to help us complete an equality impact assessment as part of the consultation. This will help us to produce a policy that is fair and equal and identify changes we need to make.

Data protection

This questionnaire and the information we collect will be used for the purposes of evidence-based decision making on the Homelessness and rough sleeping strategy 2026-2031. We are committed to the principles of the Data Protection Act 2018 and UK General Data Protection Regulations. By continuing to complete this questionnaire and submitting your responses, you are consenting to us processing this data.

This will be used to make decisions in a public forum, and the results will be published online, and anonymous data may be accessed by third parties to validate the results of the survey.

We will only retain the data collected for as long as is necessary and, after the period determined by our Data Protection Officer, this data will be destroyed in accordance with our IT and Information Security Procedures.
