Call for Sites 2025

Feedback updated 3 Mar 2026

We asked

From 4 April 2025 to 23 May 2025, we carried out a Call for Sites exercise for information on sites that could contribute towards housing and other development needs for the town. This consultation has been funded by the UK Government. The call for sites was open to all, including local organisations, businesses as well as landowners and developers and residents.

A total of 34 site nominations were received (24 via Citizen Space and 10 by email), along with eight general representations. Around half of all nominations were for residential development, with others including mixed-use, employment, industrial/logistics and commercial uses. A small number of specialist proposals were also submitted, including energy, alternative fuels, EV infrastructure and a solar farm. Submissions were made by planning consultants, landowners, a developer and a local resident.

All submitted sites will inform the Strategic Housing and Employment Land Availability Assessment (SHELAA) to identify sites that are suitable, available, and achievable for housing, employment, and other uses in the new Local Plan. The draft Local Plan will be subject to public consultation. The Call for Sites form will remain open on the webpage The new local plan for Slough – Slough Borough Council to allow new or amended submissions and to keep the evidence base up to date.

Overview

The Call for Sites is open to all but we particularly welcome sites from local organisations, businesses as well as landowners and developers to tell us about sites that they know in Slough that could support the Slough Local Plan 2025-2045.

Sites and proposals received from this exercise will inform a Strategic Housing and Employment Land Availability Assessment to help identify (or allocate) sites that are suitable, available, and achievable for housing and other uses, for the new Local Plan. A draft of the Local Plan will be subject to public consultation in the future.

Sites submitted are not automatically marked for development, nor do they gain any special status. They will be assessed taking account of Government policy and guidance, statutory requirements and protections for land, physical constraints (such as flood risk, major utilities), current local planning policy plus other material considerations.

Why your views matter

The information gathered from the 'call for sites' will help the planning team produce the Council's new Local Plan 2025-2045, which will be used to assess planning applications and drive regeneration in Slough.

The Local plan will set out policies that guide development, including to provide the houses we need, support employment , protect our parks and  natural places.

What happens next

We will review all responses to the consultation.
