Colnbrook 20mph speed limit and Traffic calming measures on Horton Road Scheme Consultation
Overview
We consult residents, commuters, businesses, and stakeholders to understand what people think about proposed developments, changes to our roads and pavements, or other traffic-related issues.
Since 2022 the Colnbrook Community Association, local Councillors and the Parish Council have been communicating with the Transport Team to explore ways to introduce a 20mph speed limit scheme in Colnbrook and Poyle area.
The council was approached by the local members to take the scheme forward and include the following roads:

In conjunction with the implementation of the 20mph speed limit scheme, officers have received representations from residents of Horton Road regarding ongoing concerns about vehicle speeds in the area. In response, a speed survey was undertaken to assess current driver behaviour. The results indicated that 85 percentile of vehicles were travelling in excess of the posted 30mph speed limit. To address these findings and enhance compliance with the existing speed limit, particularly within the residential section of Horton Road, officers are proposing the installation of traffic calming measures alongside vehicle-activated signage. These interventions aim to reinforce speed awareness and improve overall road safety for residents and other road users.
We are now seeking your views on the permanent scheme.
What are we proposing?
Our proposed design is to introduce a targeted 20mph speed limit for 35 specific roads in Colnbrook and Poyle area and traffic calming measures on the existing 30mph speed limit on Horton Road. This would be in the section starting from 50 metres of its junction with Popes Close towards its junction with Bath Road and Colnbrook High Street.
The proposals include the introduction of speed humps, rumble strips and vehicle activated signage to improve compliance, increase driver awareness, and enhance road safety on the residential section of Horton Road.
Following the consultation, officers will review the consultation feedback and if there are no objections, the works will be introduced under a permanent traffic regulation order.
The links to the drawings below shows the proposed designs in more detail.
