Experimental A4 Bath Road Service Road access/egress opposite Leigh Road closure
Overview
Slough Borough Council is writing to seek feedback from residents and businesses regarding an experimental road closure on the southern A4 Bath Road service road and its junction with A4 Bath Road opposite Leigh Road.
The experimental road closure is being introduced to improve road safety, designed to support the A4 Bath Road cycleway project, enhance safety for pedestrians and cyclists, improve connectivity and reduce congestion on the A4 Bath Road. Closing this access point would create a safer crossing for pedestrians and streamline traffic flow by removing a stage from the signalised junction.
Vehicle access to the service road will still be available via the junctions of Twinches Lane and Ipswich Road.
The proposed scheme
The accompanying drawing shows the proposal for the closure.
The work will involve installing temporary boltdown kerb units at the access point to the service road, along with signage to inform drivers of the closure on the A4. For more details, please refer to drawing SBC-TH-MP-00532-EXP-01.
