James Elliman Academy Trial School Street - Resident Survey
Overview
*Update 5 September 2022
Survey extended to 30 September 2022
We're Slough Borough Council's Transport team, and we're working with schools in the Borough.
We're seeking to understand how children, their parents / carers, and staff are travelling to / from school, and to review any transport issues.
Why your views matter
We're proposing to introduce a trial School Street for James Elliman Academy.
We need to know your views as a local resident.
What is a School Street?
A ‘School Street’ is a measure introduced to offer a proactive solution for school communities to tackle pollution, congestion, and road safety issues caused by cars used for the school run. It can also improve health, wellbeing and community cohesion.
It creates a pedestrian and cycling zone which limits motor vehicle access. This means the roads immediately surrounding a school are closed to motor traffic at agreed times but remain open to pedestrians, cyclists, and authorised vehicles. The School Street operates on Mondays to Fridays in term time during a school’s drop-off and pick-up times, for approximately one hour in the morning and approximately one hour in the afternoon, normally with volunteer marshalls operating barriers.
About your local school
We are proposing to introduce a trial School Street for James Elliman Academy. We propose that the road closed would be:
- The side road Elliman Avenue leading to James Elliman school, from adjacent to 85A Elliman Ave, north from the junction with the main Elliman Avenue, to Lismore Park
