Draft Conservation Area Character Appraisal's (CACA's)

Overview

Slough Borough Council is consulting on five draft Conservation Area Character Appraisals and Management Plans. The documents have been prepared on behalf of the Council by specialist heritage consultants, BEAMS Ltd. 

The draft documents cover the following areas: 

• Colnbrook 

• Sussex Place/Clifton Road 

• St Bernard's School 

• Upton Park/Upton Village 

• St Mary's Church, Langley 

Conservation Area Character Appraisals identify and explain the special architectural, historic and townscape qualities that contribute to the significance of a conservation area. Management Plans set out recommendations to help preserve and enhance these areas in the future. 

The draft appraisals and management plans prepared by BEAMS Ltd examine each area's history and development, heritage assets, character, important views, open spaces and landscape setting. They also review conservation area boundaries and include recommendations to help protect and enhance local character. 

As part of its statutory duties under the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990, the Council is seeking views on these draft documents before they are finalised. 

We welcome your views on the draft appraisals and management plans and proposed recommendations.

Why your views matter

Your feedback will help the Council review and refine the draft Conservation Area Character Appraisals and Management Plans before they are finalised and adopted. 

All comments received during the consultation period will be considered as part of the review process. 

Part of the Local Plan Scoping Consultation 

This consultation forms part of the Slough Local Plan 2026–2046 Scoping Consultation. Alongside these draft Conservation Area Character Appraisals and Management Plans, the Council is seeking views on a range of supporting documents that will help shape the preparation of the new Local Plan. The information you provide as part of this consultation will be used to inform the preparation of the Slough Local Plan 2026–2046 and related evidence base documents.
